Juniper Allergenicity
- Most species of juniper produce copious amounts of pollen which can be carried long distances
by the wind.
- Shedding of pollen occurs late in the fall, mid-winter, or early spring.
- Juniper is the most significant allergenic offender in the cypress family.
- The juniper pollen is very buoyant and is smaller than pine pollen, but junipers have more toxic
pollen than pine.
- Exposure to their pollen can be heavy if used in landscaping near doorways.
- A juniper with berries will not produce pollen.
